children enter a school building

Welcome to Martin Meylin Middle School!

What's New for 2024-2025

New Main Entrance/Office Location

Effective Monday, August 5, the Main Entrance and Main Office will be relocated to the north end of our building at the door closest to Hans Herr Elementary. Visitors should continue to utilize our front parking lot, but will access the doorbell at the new main entry door at the far left of the building.

Visitors who are entering the building for meetings with staff will need to present their photo ID to receive a visitor's badge. Students arriving after the start of the school day or being picked up early will need to enter/exit through the new Main Entrance door.

Please contact the school office with any questions. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we navigate this transition.

Morning Drop-Off

All Martin Meylin students will continue to be dropped off in the front loop of Martin Meylin. Please read the following information carefully:

Procedure: Those dropping students off in the morning should pull into the loop in front of Martin Meylin off of Rosier Way at the north entrance, closest to Hans Herr. Parents should pull into the loop as far as possible. Please do not stop in front of the doors if the loop in front of you is empty. When all cars have safely come to a stop, students should exit cars and proceed to the sidewalk in front of Martin Meylin. Please encourage your student to exit your vehicle as soon as you have safely stopped so that there is a constant unloading of students as the loop fills.

Students exiting on the passenger side of vehicles should walk around the front of their own vehicle to proceed to the sidewalk. Students will enter the building under the awning at the former Main Entrance. Cars may then exit the lot when it is safe to do so as directed by Martin Meylin staff. Exiting traffic will turn left onto Rosier Way, allowing room in the drop off loop for the next group of vehicles, and will proceed to high school drop off or to the Book Road exit.

At no time should students be exiting cars on Rosier Way.

Timing: The front doors to Martin Meylin will open at 7:20am. Students dropped off prior to 7:20am, but not before 7:05am, must walk around the south end of the building, using the sidewalk, and enter at the Grand Hallway doors. At no time will students be permitted to gather on the front porch of Martin Meylin or on the sidewalks. Any student arriving prior to 7:20am should be dropped off and must use the Grand Hallway entrance to enter.

At 7:20am, staff will open the front doors for student entry until 7:30am. Any student arriving after 7:30am will be considered tardy and must proceed to the new Main Entrance and use the doorbell to enter the building.

Afternoon dismissal: Students who are picked up in the afternoon will continue to be dismissed through the Grand Hallway doors for pick up in the lower parking lot outside the high school cafeteria.

Student safety is a primary concern. We will continue to monitor the drop off procedure and communicate any necessary changes that may arise due to student safety.
